History of LMTCI |
Louis Tozzi received a BS in EE from Newark College of Engineering (now the New Jersey Institute of Technology) in 1950, and the Ph.D. in EE from the University of Maryland in 1970. After graduation from the Newark College of Engineering he went to work for the Ordnance Development Division of the National Bureau of Standards (NBS) in Washington DC. The Ordnance Development Division was transferred from NBS Department of Commerce to the Department of the Army in 1951 and became the Diamond Ordnance Fuze Laboratory and later the Harry Diamond Laboratories. (NBS is now (NIST) the National Institute of Standards and Technology.) |
During the period from 1950 through September 1986 Louis Tozzi was employed by the Harry Diamond Laboratories and its predecessor organizations where the major focus of his work was in research and development of proximity and radar fuzing systems and applicable counter-countermeasure techniques. Starting as a junior engineer he, in turn, became a Group Leader, Branch Chief, Laboratory Chief, and then Director of the Development and Engineering Division at the Harry Diamond Laboratories. Before his retirement from government service in 1986 he also served as Acting Director of the Harry Diamond Laboratories for a period of approximately six months. |
In the late 1960's he received a one year Fellowship from the Harry Diamond Laboratories to complete course work toward the Ph.D. at the University of Maryland. He received the Ph.D. from the University of Maryland in 1970. His Doctoral Dissertation was "Resolution in Frequency Modulated Radar". After retirement from government service in 1986 he formed LMTCI. |
